Dear Tibor:
I understand that you are still the Department faculty member responsible for oversight of the operation of the electron microprobe.
If that is so, I would like to ask that you see Jim Broyles to get a current assessment of the financial status of the probe account and then to convene a meeting of faculty users to discuss the current status of its operation and maintenance. This meeting should also include Don Weidner, since CHiPR underwrites the operation of the probe and pays the probe managers salary.
I leave it to your judgment whether to include Bob Rapp in your first meeting with users. It may be useful to have two meetings, one with and one without Bob.
If you wish me to attend these meetings as an observer, I am willing to do so, but do not feel that I must be there. It would, however, be useful to me if you could invite Jim so that I can keep abreast of developments and needs and future plans.
